People do decisions as part of groups. Decisions are made for emotional reasons not rational ones.
I belong to the group "incels".
But incels dont exist, incel culture is not even real. I have no real life interactions with "incels". They dont even affirm my identity, I really have to self ID to make it work online.
Since "the incels" are my group, I tricked my brain. I can do what i want because I control "incel identity". I already invented it a couple of times.
