When I was very young my mother and father would make calls overseas using pre paid calling cards. At that time it was the most effective way to make long distance calls especially overseas.

There would be advertisements for these calling cards on tv.

If you would call from the U.S. you would 45 minutes of call time, calling from Canada 50 minutes of call time calling from England 60 minutes of call time

Kit calling cards were the name of these pre paid calling cards.
