I enjoy aircraft spotting

I developed this hobby while away at college. The college I went to had an airport by it and I would quite often go near the airport and look at all the planes descending and departing. Any place that has an airport is perfect for aircraft spotting and its much more cool the closer you are to it. I could make out distinct features of the airplane. What airline it belonged to what colors were on it, how many engines it had and sometimes what kind of plane it was.
In particular I enjoyed looking at a Southwest 737 as it was easily dinstigusihable from the rest of the aircraft given the blue spikes at the end of its wings and rather vibrant colors.
Where I live there is no airport so its kind of hard to aircraft spot here. However my area does have private heliports and I sometimes and am able to see helicopters flying at low altitudes and I can quite often hear them from outside my bedroom window.
One time I saw a helicopters descending off the highway into a nearby heliport and I remember it was painted red with black stripes.
