It seems like we are missing the rank of Lance Corporal

our commanding officer knows what he's doing of course, and I'm sure he's made the ranks the way they are for good reason
but it does seem that Lance Corporal is missing, and would be an important addition to our ranks, perhaps in place of Senior Soldier
while Senior Soldier sounds cooler, Lance Corporal sounds more official and realistic
how about calling the Senior Soldier position Lance Corporal?
it would also signify the run-up to Full Corporal, which is the next rank up

Lance Corporal is a rank from the Marine Corps and our own ranking system is predicated on that of the US Army's which does feature the unique rank of specialist E-4 and which we refer to as senior soldier. I selected the US Army as the rank template because it was simpler, more streamlined and more easily assimilated then the somewhat more idiosyncratic rank structure of the USMC which features ranks like "Master Gunnery Sergeant" which have their own unique histories and legacies that are particularized to the Corps. We may eventually transition to the ranking system used by the Nazi SS as it would imbue us with a greater measure of pride, esprit de corps and distinction but that would be contingent on the availability of suppliers.

Yes I am aware comrade and it is a rank that is used in almost all commonwealth militaries as a legacy of the glorious days when the sun never set over the British Empire. For as much as I respect and have reverence for the achievements of the mighty empire and the Great Britain that inspired Kipling to write his magnificent "White Man's Burden", we can't assimilate the ranking structure of the UK armed forces since it incorporates crowns and other devices which are really incongruous with our own mission. The US Army's system is very simplistic, intuitive and easily learned, hence it is an optimal choice.

Well maybe but I suppose that would depend on the extent to which they would be familiar with the UK/Commonwealth style of military hierarchy or that used by the USMC. I think most comrades will infer the relative status of the rank based on the position occupied by those who have earned it. Also, we do have clearly posted rank guidelines that appear in the announcements section and which I wrote myself to help our comrades understand the advancement system and what ranks actually signify in more tangible terms.
