Ebola. Because hantavirus failed to scare everyone

This is one of those things that makes me roll my eyes. I ain't even angry, more like exhausted by contempt.

Remember a few months ago when "nipah virus" was in every headline. It was super-deadly, but then it just vanished. Then came maybe another Covid variant, and an unspecified "diarrhea-inducing virus".

And then hantavirus. That was all over the place for about 8 minutes; tons of news shows and youtube channels dissecting how deadly it was, how it could happen in our own backyards, speculating how the spread would happen, harkening back to how Covid was, and wondering if this was the apocalypse we all seem to be looking forward to (remember 3/I Atlas? eh, whatever)

So now we have ebola. :sweatingcat: I think that it's being hyped up because hantavirus failed to cause widespread panic, or derail certain election plans.

I fully predict that after ebola blows over next tuesday, we'll hear about a *new* super-virus that not only makes you impotent, but causes your rectum to fall off

Well, how about that. It is now "next Tuesday", and aside from some niche stories out of Africa, ebola's not really in the news anymore.
