Poll: phpBB versus XenForo forum software

As part of our ongoing effort to improve the experience for our members and visitors alike, the Headquarters Staff of the IPF is soliciting your feedback concerning the best software for managing these forums. We have been relying on phpBB for as long as this site has been operational (May 17, 2024) and it provides us with the features which allow us to distinguish ourselves from other forums in the incelosphere. We are however aware of the quality of life considerations that may be operative for many of our supporters and as such, we welcome your input and encourage your participation in this poll.

I know comrade and more money from the lieutenant and I no doubt as well, which is why I advocate for retaining the current forum structure and software. But, if we can reasonably anticipate a massive influx of new members if we were to change the optics of this site, then it may well be worth the effort, time and money.

Thank you for your support comrade. I have to make a decision based not only on the personal preferences of many of us in the IPF but also on our ability to retain the features that make us a truly remarkable and immersive forum experience for our end users. Whatever happens, it will only be after careful and considered deliberation by those of us in the leadership.

Well if that is really the only thing that matters to all the brocels who are otherwise waiting to pledge their allegiance to the cause then it seems to me that we can probably rearrange our interface in a way that permits something more analogous to that sort of display.

Well you would have to also pay for the XenForo software because tbh, I have already paid a lot of my own money on this as well as other endeavors in furtherance of the cause. Don't make the decision based on your desire for more power and glory though, make it based on the need to serve our comrades and increase our membership.

Well you would have to also pay for the XenForo software because tbh, I have already paid a lot of my own money on this as well as other endeavors in furtherance of the cause. I voted for xenforo. If we, as a movement, are to grow and expand, our forums need to be up to date and presentable. From my limited understanding of how xenforo works through my years of posting on such forums I believe it wouldn’t be so difficult to retain the desirable features we need such as ranks, stars, etc.

Xenforo is highly customizable through addons. If you look at the difference between .is and .org in terms of site features it is staggering how much the administration has neglected the former. Because .org has the bigger userbase and brings in more money they naturally get all the upgrades.

With this all said, I perfectly understand the reasons why you may wish to keep using phpBB. Money is always a concern and putting all this extra workload on @Tovarishcel is a little distasteful.

I appreciate that you value our suggestions and will actually implement then if viable, unlike the incels.is "suggestions" section which admins have ignored for years.

Personally, I think that switching to XenForo and investing in a high quality forum is one of the most fruitful improvements and long term investments we can make. Even a similar house-style to incels.is or looksmax would be beneficial in attracting recruits and easing their transfer here. We could differentiate the forum once we have a larger userbase. I also think it would help if the standard URL "mensrights.space" would itself would land on the forum, ensuring brief visitors see our forums .

Thank you for your sentiments comrade as well as for your valued feedback. As I noted above and elsewhere, these forums represent a different sort of place then the "community" which .is aspires to be yet consistently fails in every way at actually achieving. We take all of our members suggestions seriously and we value every comrade here for his loyalty, support and commitment to our shared vision of a more inspired vision of the future for all incels.

As for your substantive recommendations, while I agree that the familiarity with the interface may be helpful for many who may come from other forums, I still assert that the features that distinguish us from the rest of the incelosphere and are seemingly inextricably linked to our phpBB software are what makes us remarkable. I don't want this to be just another incel forum like the virtual circle jerk of .is and we are improving the aesthetics as well as the functionality of these forums on a daily basis.

Ultimately, we will make the decision after careful and circumspect assessment of all the relevant considerations and I thank you again for taking the time to contribute to this important process.

We will still have to make a decision based on all the relevant factual considerations and not merely on the basis of the popularity of the options.
