As a former university lecturer who was widely regarded as being the most charismatic, engaging, humorous and entertaining member of my faculty, I can genuinely say that she is a very poor educator, despite her presumably noble intentions. This is not how you talk about history/anthropology. Great teachers are like great lawyers, they are born, not made and she was born to do something else, probably be a sex slave to the Mujahedeen of the Caliphate.

That was my point exactly as made above. If you're going to be teaching about some mundane shit like ancient Mesopotamia (which I actually have taught about), then you need to make it insanely entertaining. I used to act out scenes from movies like Alexander (the biopic about the Great Macedonian general/king) to enthrall and captivate my students. When anyone who is professing to be a subject matter expert on a particular topic says "I get this information from museums and stuff like that" you know they have no idea wtf they are talking about.
