I dont think MAGA is unwise. I thought about it in the past and I thought they were repeating scripts from USSR so the first step is demoralize your own people, depoliticize them. Achieve low trust. Achieve a situation where nothing is true, and pull off psyops on your own people, later admit you did it, so you get people who cannot trust anything. And you all know the story, most of MAGA is a repetition of USSR propaganda.
I too had this perspective. But lately i was thinkin that a movement like MAGA is too diverse, both racially and culturally, and is kept together with glue and ducktape. If you do not depoliticize and demoralize and undermine trust, what else you can to keep the entire incoherent structure alive?
Large coalitions like MAGA contain libertarians, religious groups (many of them, and the most insane on the planet), demoralized normies, awakened boomers, tech elite oligarchs and they have to coexist with worker unions somehow. And then you get anti war isolationists and prowar neocons need to make them coexist. There are ways to make them coexist by using the coherence of their own ideology. But as for the mass, you are almost forced to depoliticize them, neuter them and make them distrustful.
What kinds of political systems naturally emerge in lowtrust, hypermediated societies? I believe is MAGA, is not as unwise as it may seem. Lots of people think MAGA is purposefully ruining americans. What if they were already ruined on their own and MAGA is right all along? Im playing with the idea, revisiting an assumption I had in the past.
In the past I thought MAGA was a subversive anti-west force of evil. I still think that, but lookin at the situation I asked myself what would I do different. I need first to depoliticize everyone, and make them demoralized. Also the MAGA cultural revolution makes sense to me. Its a combination of things that had to be this way, elites arent wrong doing what theyre doing.
I believe demoralization is the only real solution.
